Why Coaching

HIGHER REVENUE

image

46% of companies with a strong coaching culture report higher revenue than their industry peer group

Hiring a business coach can be a career-defining and life-changing move for entrepreneurs and executives. And the statistics speak for themselves. A survey published by the International Coach Federation (ICF) found that on average, organizations working with a business coach grow their net income by 46 percent. In addition to this, the research discovered 62.4% of executives and entrepreneurs set better goals, 57.1% lowered their anxiety, and 52.4% felt more confident.

Yet, the most interesting finding from this study is the number of people who describe this relationship as one of the most important in their life

BETTER PERFORMANCE

image

Over 70% of individuals who receive coaching benefitted from improved work performance, relationships, and more effective communication skills

We all know about the value of coaching in sports, but what about coaching in the workplace? Just like a coach can help an athlete achieve their potential, a workplace coach can guide employees to build skills, improve performance and meet their goals.

Coaches take a proactive approach to employee growth, giving confidence to those who need it and helping to pinpoint and resolve problem areas. It isn’t always easy, but research shows that coaching pays off: coaching and mentoring employees in the workplace can create a return on investment of 5.7 times the cost.

The main aim of workplace coaching is to promote two-way communication between an employee and their coach in order to identify areas for improvement, reinforce strengths, and further develop their performance. This is usually done by focusing on specific performance objectives, skills and goals.

It’s all about empowering employees to be the best performers that they can be.

HIGHER PRODUCTIVITY

image

86% increase in productivity when coaching is combined with training as compared to 22% with only training

The purpose of coaching can be summarized in the maxim: “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” Effective coaching does not give employees the answers but rather supports them as they solve problems themselves.

Coaching is concerned with “how”: how to set and achieve goals, how to change approaches or attitudes, how to prepare for future roles. It is action-oriented and future-focused. A good coach draws out an employee’s strengths and helps them to leverage these strengths to increase effectiveness.

REDUCED TURNOVER

image

93% companies report significantly less turnover when they offer coaching to employees

Deloitte recently partnered with the independent research firm Workplace Intelligence to survey 2,100 employees and C-level executives across four countries—the US, UK, Canada, and Australia—and found that nearly 70 percent of executives are seriously considering quitting their current positions for a job that better supports their well-being. What would be the impact to your organization if you had a mass exodus of your senior leaders?

Many talent development professionals have reworked their talent development programs to focus on employee well-being to combat burnout and boost retention. However, they may have overlooked one important tool that is already in their talent development toolbox: leadership coaching.

The coaching engagement—traditionally an intervention used to address performance gaps or develop a leader to achieve a higher level within an organization, especially at the senior-leader level—can easily be realigned to provide the necessary tools and focus to aid in burnout prevention, supporting well-being and positivity impact retention. While many organizations are focused on enhancing transactional elements of the employment relationship to improve retention, such as salary bumps or perks, a recent McKinsey study identified that what employees really prioritize in their decision to stay with their organizations are more relational in nature—being engaged, sensing they belong, and feeling valued.

I had been struggling with my leadership style for years. My team didn’t like me and my Manager had put me on a short leash cautioning me that I could either change or move into an Individual contributor role. It took 4 months of coaching to transform my life as a leader.

Moving from Chicago to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, I made two terrible errors within the first week of joining office. The Bank I was employed with helped me reach out to Jag as my Culture coach. had the privilege of going through my executive coaching by Jagmohan. Jagmohan excels in providing excellent perspectives and solutions for career minded individuals through his deep and insightful leadership coaching. He demonstrates mastery in his craft by carefully evaluating a leaders own and their colleagues' perceived identity using feedback tools and then using them to chart a trend for improvement. During feedback, he allows individuals to participate in their development plan. As a professional, Jagmohan is meticulous and thought through in his approach. I am extremely proud of my professional association with him.
